ABOUT ME:
Randy Rollofson started playing the drums when he was 10 years old. Four years later he started learning about jazz while attending South Eugene High School. He received a Bachelor's degree in Jazz Studies from the University of Oregon in 2001 and now lives in Portland, OR. Randy is a 3-time recipient of Outstanding Musician Awards from the Reno International Jazz Festival and a recipient of the Sabian Cymbal Award for Outstanding College Drummer. He was one of ten drummers selected to participated in the Banff International Jazz Workshop, and one of four drummers selected for the Betty Carter Jazz Ahead Residency at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC. Randy also was a part of a jazz quartet that was a semi-finalist in the Jazz at Lincoln Center Rhythm Road Competition in New York City.
Aside from working as a sideman with many local musicians, Randy plays drums in the 8-piece, Motown-infused Portland band Trixy and the Nasties, and has arranged over 30 songs in their setlist. Randy recently received a masters in computer science from Portland State University and is a software engineer at XPO Logistics in NW Portland. |
